I was wondering if the developer license (lifetime) allows me to keep Microthemer activated on client sites, so they can tweak CSS themselves if they so desire. Or should I uninstall the plugin upon delivery?

Yes, you can keep MT installed on client sites, and they are free to make tweaks. Some developers prefer to uninstall MT and load its styling using some custom code (available from General > Preferences > Inactive). That’s just if they want to ensure the client can’t make design breaking changes to the site though. It is certainly not a requirement to do this if you want to make MT’s visual editor a feature for your clients.
