Script Error

Heads up! this post was created when Microthemer was at version 5. The current version is 7. Some references to the interface may be out of date.

Just running MT on a staging site and got this error which is not descriptive at all to even determine what it is all about.

Script error. (line 0)
Microthemer discovered a JavaScript error on your site:
Error: Script error.

Hey,

Sorry for the trouble. And thanks for reporting this. Would you mind sending access details for your staging site via our secure contact form so I can troubleshoot this?

It may have something to do with having a different URL or protocol (http vs https) on the Microthemer interface compared to the site preview. Discussed on this stack overflow thread: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5913978/cryptic-script-error-reported-in-javascript-in-chrome-and-firefox

Thanks Sebastian for the quick response. My site is on a staging site at the moment so unable too hare a life access. Is there anything I can look at myself to troubleshoot….read the article but there didn’t seem to be a specific way to resolve. Cheers.

Hey,

No problem. Please try the following:

  1. Go to the Microthemer interface
  2. Right-click the site preview and choose Inspect
  3. Go to the console tab
  4. Refresh the page
  5. Look for any errors that appear. Hopefully it will say a bit more than just script error.
  6. Please copy and paste any error information you find on this thread.
